The Pact.
When we saw each other next, we didn’t know what to do.
We absolutely hated each other. I flaunted my money, women, and power and you upstaged my valiant efforts to gain respect. But fate, or our past selves, wouldn’t let us go on like this. I fell ill and you took care of me. You brought me back to life, since I did the same to you before.
I threw everything away for you. Relinquished the stars, the world, everything. And I looked into your eyes and promised never to hurt you. And you said, “Don’t lie, you’ll hurt me time and time again, and I, will surely do the same. Let us make a pact, however, that no matter how much we poison each other in future lives, we’ll continue to look for each other, and honor each other, till death do us part.”
I kissed your head and laughed. “Silly words, you say. Not even Death could tear us apart, because we are one and the same.”
And so we became married, not by law, but by love.
